Zhou Wei's inspiration for the design was the concept of a library as a spiritual world, housing books of wisdom and gathering people with dreams. The library, therefore, is not just a building but a city of books, reflecting the spiritual pursuit of the local people in every detail. The unique properties of the design lie in the quality of the space, which is embodied in the profiles, the details, and the interfaces. Daily dynamic elements and artistic articles, along with the green pine, contribute to a space characterized by simple elegance and modern aesthetics.
The design realization technology used in the project is noteworthy. The 9-meter-high building model area is decorated with 2,000 crystal birds, which resemble rolling mountains or soft clouds, highlighting the beauty of proportion and the vitality of the space. A sunken reading space, created with more than 10,000 books, caters to readers of different ages, allowing them to immerse themselves in a world of knowledge. The simple, elegant, and exquisite decorations define a quiet and warm space, encouraging people to explore the spiritual world and reflect on their lives.
The project, which covers an area of 1386 square meters, is located in Fogang County, Qingyuan, Guangdong, China, and was completed in August 2019. The design team, led by Zhou Wei and Zhu Jing, faced the challenge of combining the sales center with the library, providing a high-quality and practical space for experiences and activities. When the sale ends, the sales center will be turned into a community library, rooted in daily life to satisfy the spiritual demands of the local people.
The design has been recognized for its innovative approach and has been awarded the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
In conclusion, Longshan Library, designed by Zhou Wei, is a unique blend of functionality and aesthetics. It is not just a building but a city of books, reflecting the spiritual pursuit of the local people. The design, which has won prestigious awards, is a testament to the designer's innovative approach and the spiritual pursuit of the local people.
